The Best Dragons’ Den Media & Entertainment Products (2026)
Every media & entertainment product that pitched Dragons’ Den, the ones that landed deals, the ones still selling, and where to buy them.
Media and entertainment is one of the smallest categories in our Dragons' Den index, with just two pitches on record. Both of them got a deal. That is a 100 percent strike rate against an overall show average of around 30 percent, though with a sample this small, it says more about who happened to walk through the door than about the category as a whole.
Ranked 15th by pitch volume among our tags, this is not a category with a long back catalogue to draw on. Here is everything in it, and what the two pitches show.
A Small but Perfect Record
Two pitches, two deals. Both entrepreneurs left with an investor and both businesses are still going. With only two data points the takeaway is a narrow one: the Den has not seen many media or entertainment founders come through, and the ones who did made a strong enough case to get backed.
Compare that to a category like Kids & Education, which has appeared near the top of the Den's category rankings in almost every series since the show began. Media and entertainment has never built that kind of volume, and our index shows no pitches in the category outside of the pair from series 9. Whatever the reason, whether it is founders in this space pitching elsewhere for funding or simply fewer entertainment businesses applying to the show, the category has stayed thin across two decades of episodes.
The Pitches That Landed
Both deals came out of series 9, the same series that also produced Ploughcroft Solar's headline green tech deal. Fun Fancy Dress pitched a fancy dress shop business with franchise potential, and the Dragons backed it. The pitch fits a recognisable Den pattern: a physical retail concept with a proven local trading history and a clear plan to replicate it nationally through franchising, exactly the kind of scalable, asset-backed business model that tends to appeal to investors focused on retail and consumer brands.
Unique Ideas UK pitched corporate events and entertainment services, including a product called the Cyclone GameCube, and also came away with a deal. A corporate events business is a slightly different animal from a product pitch: it is selling a service and a client book rather than a single item that can sit on a shelf, which makes it a less common type of pitch to see succeed on the show.
Why the Category Is So Thin
Media and entertainment pitches are rarer on the show than consumer products, food and drink, or tech. The format rewards businesses the Dragons can picture scaling through retail, licensing or direct sales, and entertainment concepts, particularly event and franchise businesses, do not always fit that mould as neatly. A physical product can be held up to camera, tasted, worn or demonstrated on the spot. A corporate events business or a franchise concept has to be explained rather than shown, which is a harder pitch to land in a ten-minute segment.
That scarcity is not unique to this category. Travel, for instance, has just a single pitch in our entire index and it did not get a deal. Media and entertainment at least clears that bar twice over, and does so with a perfect close rate, which puts it in a stronger position than several other underrepresented categories on the show.
Who Backed the Category
Both pitches found someone willing to back a business built on costumes, corporate events and one-off entertainment products rather than a repeatable physical product line, which is not always the easiest sell on a show built largely around consumer goods.
Where Things Stand Now
Both Fun Fancy Dress and Unique Ideas UK are tracked as still selling in our index, more than a decade removed from their series 9 appearances. For a category this small, two out of two still trading is as strong a result as the numbers could possibly show.
If you are hoping for a long list of media and entertainment success stories from the Den, this is not that list. It is a short one, but both entries on it are still standing, and until another founder in this space makes it onto the carpet, that perfect two-for-two record is the whole story.
