A phone case attachment that stops your phone hitting the pavement is a simple idea, and simple ideas either find a market or they don't. My Bunjee found one. If you are wondering whether the company is still selling, the short answer is yes, more than a decade after its Dragons' Den pitch.

The Short Answer

My Bunjee is still in business. Bunjee Products Limited shows as active on Companies House, with accounts filed as recently as 2023, and the company continues to sell through its own website. It does not currently sell through Amazon.

For a single product accessory brand that pitched back in the show's tenth series, still trading with recent filed accounts is a genuinely solid track record.

The Pitch

My Bunjee appeared in series 10, episode 11, pitching a coiled attachment that clips to a phone case and loops around a finger or wrist, designed to stop phones slipping out of hand and smashing on the ground. It is a low tech solution to a problem every smartphone owner has experienced at least once.

The founder asked for £70,000 in exchange for 35 percent of the business.

Smartphone accessories are a fast moving category, with phone shapes, case designs and connector standards shifting every few years, which makes long term survival harder for accessory brands than it might first appear, since a product built for one generation of handsets can become obsolete almost overnight.

The Deal

Peter Jones backed the pitch, investing the full £70,000 for the 35 percent stake on offer, with no change to the terms the founder walked in with. Jones has a long history of investing in accessory and electronics adjacent products in the Den, and a phone accessory with an obvious mainstream use case sits well within that pattern.

Getting the ask matched in full, without the equity being renegotiated upward, is not the most common outcome for pitches at this scale, and it points to the Dragons seeing clear demand in the product from the start.

Growth and Retail Reach

In the years since the pitch, the Bunjee brand expanded its retail relationships considerably, working with major names in the UK mobile phone trade including Samsung, O2, Orange, T Mobile and Carphone Warehouse. That kind of distribution, moving from a single Dragons' Den appearance into partnerships with mobile network retailers, is the sort of scaling most pitching founders are chasing when they walk into the Den.

The company has continued selling its Classic model and variations on it directly through its own site, mybunjee.com, keeping the core product largely unchanged because the original design solved the problem it set out to solve.

Working directly with network retailers rather than relying purely on online sales gave the brand a distribution channel that put the product in front of customers at the exact moment they were buying or upgrading a phone, which is a difficult placement for a small accessory company to secure on its own.
