Most Dragons' Den deals involve one Dragon, occasionally two. A feeding frenzy is what happens when three or more decide they all want a piece of the same pitch, and rather than let one of them walk away with the whole deal, they team up. Our index has tracked 14 of these across the show's history. Here are the biggest ones.

The biggest feeding frenzies

Series 22 produced two of the largest three-Dragon deals on record. BodyXcore walked away with £105,000 from Peter Jones, Touker Suleyman and the guest Dragon Joe Wicks, the fitness personality lending category expertise to a pitch built around exactly the kind of product he already understands. Pippa Technologies closed a £100,000 deal the same series with Peter Jones, Deborah Meaden and Touker Suleyman all in, and Prsnt landed £90,000 from Sara Davies, Peter Jones and Touker Suleyman.

Peachy Lean, in series 18, matched Pippa Technologies' figure at £100,000, backed by Touker Suleyman, Sara Davies and guest Dragon Tej Lalvani. Nimble, in series 17, brought in £85,000 from the same trio, Touker Suleyman, Sara Davies and Tej Lalvani, a pairing that shows up more than once on this list. And reaching further back, Guy Portelli Sculpture Studio secured £80,000 in series 6 from Peter Jones, Theo Paphitis and guest Dragon James Caan.

Why three Dragons team up on one pitch

A feeding frenzy usually happens for one of two reasons. Either the pitch is genuinely strong enough that no single Dragon wants to lose out on it, so they agree to split the equity and the risk between them, or the founder is asking for more money than any one Dragon is comfortable putting up alone, and pooling cheques is the only way to hit the full amount the founder needs to walk out with a deal.

Touker Suleyman appears in several of the biggest frenzies on this list, and Peter Jones is the most frequent single Dragon across the group. Both have long track records of jumping into a deal that another Dragon has already opened up, rather than always leading the offer themselves, which fits the collaborative pattern behind most of these multi-Dragon pitches.

What a feeding frenzy means for the founder

Splitting a deal three ways is not necessarily better or worse than a single-Dragon deal, it changes the shape of what the founder gets rather than the value of it. A larger group of investors brings more combined experience, more contacts, and more hands available to help, but it also means more voices to align with once the cameras stop rolling and more equity has typically changed hands overall.

Founders on the receiving end of a frenzy have to weigh the same trade-off any startup faces with a crowded cap table: broader support against a more complicated shareholder structure. Given how often these deals recur across the show, series 22 alone produced two of the biggest, it is clearly a structure that works often enough for both sides to keep choosing it.

The bigger picture

14 feeding frenzies across 22 series is a small but consistent share of the show's dealmaking, and the fact that recent series keep producing them, BodyXcore and Pippa Technologies both came out of series 22, suggests the format is not going anywhere. When a pitch is good enough to make three Dragons compete for a slice rather than let one walk away with it all, the show has always found a way to let them share.
