Since Sara Davies left the panel after series 22, Dragons' Den has filled its fifth chair with a rotating cast of guest investors rather than a single permanent replacement. But guest Dragons are not a new invention for 2026, the show has brought in outside investors on and off since its early years. Notable guest Dragon deals

The biggest guest Dragon deal on record is Kimaï, which secured £250,000 from Steven Bartlett in series 21. Steven Bartlett himself started out as a guest before becoming a resident Dragon in 2021, so several of his early deals, Kimaï included, technically fall into this category even though he is now a permanent fixture of the panel.

Further back, Igloo raised £160,000 in series 4 from Duncan Bannatyne and guest Dragon Richard Farleigh. Electro Expo and Rapstrap both closed £150,000 deals in series 5 and 6 respectively, each backed by Duncan Bannatyne alongside guest Dragon James Caan. Mo Bros secured £150,000 in series 15 from Peter Jones and guest Dragon Tej Lalvani, and Cheesegeek raised the same amount in series 19 from Steven Bartlett, back when he was still a guest himself.

Why the Den brings in guest investors

A guest Dragon usually arrives with expertise the resident panel does not have in a specific category. Tej Lalvani, who built the supplements company Vitabiotics, has repeatedly guested on health and wellness pitches. James Caan, a recruitment and private equity veteran, guested through the show's middle years on business-services pitches. In 2026, the format has flipped: with Sara Davies gone and Touker Suleyman departing after series 23, guests like Susie Ma of Tropic Skincare and REFY's Jenna Meek are filling gaps left by resident Dragons rather than supplementing a full panel.

That shift matters for founders pitching now. A specialist guest in the chair for your episode can mean the difference between a generalist's caution and a category expert's immediate understanding of why your business works, which is exactly the dynamic that has produced several of the deals on this list.
